RADIESSE®

Over time, tissue volume diminishes, leaving what is commonly seen as lines and wrinkles, including the deepening of Nasolabial Folds, accentuated smile lines (sometimes called “marionette lines”), fallen cheek pads and sagging jaw lines. RADIESSE® can be injected into the skin in order to compensate or correct these areas. By using your body’s ability to grow collagen and regenerate tissue, RADIESSE® produces natural looking results for a fresh, rested, healthy appearance that still looks like you.

What to Expect During Treatment:

Dr. Young injects RADIESSE® to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth, such as nasolabial folds, and is used to create volume in the upper cheeks and chin/jowl area. Due to its unique components, RADIESSE® must be injected deeper than other dermal fillers. It should never be injected into shallow sites, such as the lips or tear tracts, because its whitish coloring may be seen through thinner skin. Depending upon the site of injection and your specific volume loss, multiple syringes may be needed for full effects.

When you arrive:

If this is your first visit, we will ask about your medical history, including any allergies you may have or medications you take and will explain wrinkle treatment with RADIESSE®.

Determining your treatment needs:

Dr. Young will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine the best treatment for you. Pre and post-treatment photographs are typically taken.

Before the procedure:

Although anesthesia is not required, Dr. Young may use topical or injectable anesthesia to numb the treatment area first.

The procedure:

RADIESSE® is injected directly into the skin slowly and safely in small amounts. The gel produces volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and smoothed out. The treatment generally takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area.

After the procedure:

You should see an immediate improvement in the treatment areas (normally 1-2 days) with some bruising or swelling. Because RADIESSE® is injected deeper into the skin, some patients experience slightly more bruising or swelling than they do with other fillers; however, ice packs and avoidance of aspirin for a few days will help should you encounter either of these. RADIESSE® will help fill, smooth, and minimize the lines, wrinkles, and/or folds into which it is injected. Most patients achieve optimal smoothing for approximately one year, although in some cases and areas, the duration of the effect may be shorter or longer. Supplemental treatments may be required to achieve and maintain optimal results.

Returning to the office for your follow-up appointments is essential to ensure the best possible results.
