Juvéderm®

Juvéderm® can erase the furrows and deep wrinkles that develop in the skin as a result of aging, overuse and constant muscle contractions. These permanent facial lines, which most often develop around the eyes and mouth as well as between the eyebrows and on the forehead, can make you look older, sad, angry or tired.

Juvéderm® injectable gel is available in two formulations--Juvéderm® Ultra and Ultra Plus. Juvéderm® Ultra provides versatility in contouring and volumizing facial wrinkles and folds, and Juvéderm® Ultra Plus provides a more robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper folds and wrinkles. This allows our doctors to tailor treatment to meet your unique needs.

What to Expect During Treatment:

Because Juvéderm® injectable gel is a simple, nonsurgical wrinkle treatment, there is minimal recovery or down time.

When you arrive:

If this is your first visit, we will ask about your medical history, including any allergies you may have or medications you take and will explain wrinkle treatment with Juvéderm®. Juvéderm® does not require an allergy test.

Determining your treatment needs:

Dr. Young will examine the soft tissue of your face to assess the depth of wrinkles and folds to determine the best treatment for you. Pre and post-treatment photographs are typically taken.

Before the procedure:

Although anesthesia is not required, Dr. Young may use topical or injectable anesthesia to numb the treatment area first.

The procedure:

Dr. Young  will place the Juvéderm® injectable gel under your skin to augment or fill wrinkles and folds. The procedure is quick and easy. The injection itself usually takes about 15 minutes.

After the procedure:

With Juvéderm®, there is minimal recovery or down time. For the first 24 hours following treatment, you should avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sun or heat exposure, and consumption of alcoholic beverages in order to help minimize the risks of temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the treatment sites. After the treatment, some temporary injection-related reactions may occur, including redness, pain, firmness, swelling and bumps. Studies have shown these are usually mild to moderate in nature and clear up on their own in 7 days or less. If you experience swelling at the injection site, you can apply ice for a brief period. Makeup may be applied immediately after your treatment.

Returning to the office for your follow-up appointments is essential to ensure the best possible results.
